RENO, Nevada – A National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) grant of $950,000 has been awarded to continue the Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center at Manufacture Nevada hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno.

Manufacture Nevada is a statewide program that serves as Nevada's approved NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and the industrial extension program of the Nevada System of Higher Education. It is a resource for small- and medium-sized manufacturers in Nevada, providing services to a rapidly growing sector of the state economy.

"Nevada Industry Excellence [Manufacture Nevada] is honored and proud to represent the MEP National Network in Nevada. We are grateful for the many partners that support our efforts and champion manufacturing growth in Nevada," said director of Manufacture NevadaTom Simpkins. "The future of Nevada manufacturing is bright and we have already begun work on the next phase of creating a statewide manufacturing ecosystem that fosters growth, support and a cohesive effort in further establishing our state as a leader in manufacturing."

The operation of a Manufacturing Extension Partnership through Manufacture Nevada helps to adopt and expand recognized training credentials for manufacturers across the state of Nevada as well as increasing access to STEM careers and education.

"There are so many terrific Nevada businesses, and they need support in their work to make products right here at home, address supply chain issues, and grow our economy," said U.S. Senator Cortez Masto (D-NV). "This grant funding will help Nevada continue its efforts to train workers for good-paying manufacturing jobs and expand our manufacturing industry."

This grant will bolster and create manufacturing jobs in Nevada by addressing growth services, supply chain development, energy savings and connecting industry partners to cutting-edge research and development programs. "Boosting our manufacturing sector will continue to diversify Nevada's economy, help prevent disruptions, and create more good-paying jobs," said U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV).

Manufacture Nevada supports manufacturers as part of the MEP National NetworkTM, which includes the MEP national program office located at the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as well as 51 MEP Centers located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
